    Arvil Cochran, a longtime University of Houston communications professor credited with helping launch the careers of many well-known journalists, died last week after a fall in his home in Utah. He was 90. Cochran worked as faculty adviser for KUHF, then a student-run radio station at the University of Houston, and was a radio and television broadcast professor there for at least a decade ending in 1981.
