Thank you for your response & nice that we don't have to do battle. As a friend of mine says, how many people do you know that are convicted of violent crimes for smoking pot & that seems to be pretty true. She's functioned her entire life being able to smoke & now in her 60's. Love her dearly, but don't want to be in a room with it. Smoking cigerettes has been the **** on my back for 40 years & the lungs are feeling it now. I don't recommend smoking cigerettes to anyone & they are legal. New $1 per pack tax, might be what it takes to break a nasty habit.
If it wasn't for the technology of today, no one would have ever known about Phelps, but those dang cell phones that take videos & pictures, aren't too cool to have around, they can be used against you to make a buck.

Everything is for sale, so to speak. Glad they weren't around when I was young.
That makes two of us!

Let's just say I'm not real impressed with illegal activities. Don't go bong shopping, not on my list to do. I've paid my dues & I'll ride my high horse any day.
At 53, don't want to spend my time with people smoking weed & passing it around the group. I guess we simply have different types of friends & enjoy different activities.
I agree with you on murderers, rapists, thieves, perverts, corrupt politicians, corrupt executives, child abusers, wife abusers, husband abusers & could go on, prosecute them all.
Perhaps when someone is a high profile person, they might want to make better choices, that won't stir controversy?
Whatever the case, enjoy your weed. Just for curiosity sake, why hasn't it been legalized yet? It's been around forever, might make a good taxable revenue like cigerettes?
It's not illegal in several states in individual use quantities. It should be legalized nationwide and taxed the same as cigarettes and alcohol. The revenue derived from legal sales would be astronomical. How much do you suppose a cultivator could make? As to the why, I have no answer. No good answer anyway.
As for people that are considered high profile, I can only imagine that in Phelps' case he is so new to it that he hasn't made the adjustments that some people would expect. The rest of us would just say it's his life and he has the right to live it doing what he thinks is best for him. That does not mean his decisions will always be right or legal.
We are the same age. I don't sit around with the group passing the joint any longer. If I do smoke, it's usually alone or occasionally with a friend. It's not a big deal. But let me tell you it was a real big deal when I was being treated for cancer. The herb took on a whole new meaning during that time of my life.
So we've both paid our dues and can agree to disagree. I apologize for the horse comment.
Have a nice weekend.

I agree with everything you said except for one point: I don't believe that "smoking pot is wrong". It is, however, illegal.
Shame on Kellogg's. I'll skip buying their products for awhile. When I'm boss of the world and make legalize pot, This kind of cr@p will become a nonissue.
Agreed, and Tony the tiger and I will have to go our separate ways for the time being. Unless I get a major case of the munchies. lol

So this dork apologizes for what he has done, BIG DEAL!!!! He claims that he is young and made a stupid move. He is 23 yrs. old, old enough to know better and it amazes me with these famous people, they have such opportunity and wealth and want to blow it all they've worked so hard for by making stupid decisions and choices. I have no pity for him, he deserves to have sponsors pull out on him, after all who would want their product associated with someone like this?

To TTIN & What a Surprise, I enjoyed your posts. For what it's worth, I don't have a price tag & am often times fighting causes that no one else will stand up for.

You both seem like nice guys & that we might well agree on many issues.

What a Surprise, I hope you are cancer free & doing well, cancer is a nasty disease & glad the pot helped you.

FORGET THAT, so he likes to have a good time, who doesn't?
Just because he is in the public eye doesn't mean he has a responsibility to be some sort of effing role model for kids. Besides, if anything he is sending a message to the world, marijuana isn't exactly the DEVIL as anti-drug ads would have you believe if Mr.Phelps can do it and go on to win 6 gold medals.
I applaud Michael phelps for his drive and determination and I bare no feelings of resent towards him for needing those periods in his life where he takes a break, parties, sins and has fun. Anyone who says otherwise should take a look at THEIR OWN life and tell me they /always/ set a good example for anyone they knew. We are all human, and hell this was hardly a mistake -__-

I come from a long line of social activists who, more often than never, stood up for people and causes that few wanted to be a part of. I appreciate people that are like minded in this way and do things just because it's the right thing to do. Nothing in return.
You're right. Cancer is nasty and horrible and dreaded and so many other adjectives. Thankfully, I'm doing well right now. Haven't smoked anything illegal since early last summer! If I ever need to again, I have no qualms about firing one up. Thanks for your kind words.

Michael Phelps is teamed up with Colgate in a conservancy campaign to 'Save The Water' aka 'Every Drop Counts'.

I suppose he is being paid... but in all the information like turning off the faucet while brushing and other little efforts he failed to mention the huge waste backyard recreational swimming pools bring to the table.

Suppose it's just us everyday ordinary folks who have to do the grunt work.
