Allegedly, the child sitting in the bench had been throwing strawberries at the child who eventually beat him up. Obviously, one must always be aware of their surrounds and should not have been provoking the other kid. Beyond that, is there any way the kid who was beat up could have defended them self or were they completely helpless.

There are also many things that could've been better handled in this situation by the faculty. This high school in particular has 4-5 security guards. Seeing as there is a lunch monitor already near by the incident and the fact that someone had already had their phone out to capture the event, there must have been warning signs which the lunch monitors should have picked up on. This should have made them think to call security prior to this happening which may have prevented the situation from happening in the first place. What other mistakes were made in this handling this incident and how could the faculty be better prepared for when something like this occurs again?

Thank you.
