I have had the pleasure of working at Lowe's for almost 4.5 years. I jumped on this Topix site last year as we all did. I was devastated and surprised, as we all were. I have chimed in from time to time but don't make this thing a habit What I read here is ridiculous. Change is inevitable in retail. When I joined this company a little over 4 years ago it WAS family. So what. Be flexible in your professional (and personal) life. This is business and you do not own it, Who cares? Go find your passion and make yourselves happy.

Please make no mistake. It has been a very tough ride. I do actually understand how you feel and I might be close to your age. I totally get it! My point is that change in retail began in 2008/9 and is now irreversible. If you have been there for 21 years there must be something you care about more than the way you feel you are being treated. The power is in your hands to change your life. I am very disappointed as well and I haven't been there that long. I don't think for one minute that I am invaluable in retail or at Lowe's.

I am with you, change is inevitable but it is something people always struggle with. Restructures suck but it happens in every business as companies have to evolve to stay relevant. If they don't then everyone is laid off not just some. Resiliency is required to move forward in life, on this forum a lot of people seem to struggle with letting go of the past and moving on. I understand the worry and concern, but if everyone is as great a worker as they say they are then they will either keep their job or have no problem finding a new one.

It’s easy to stay there 25 or 30 years. Just work for whatever they’ll pay you, don’t ask for raises, and for God’s sake, DO NOT seek promotional opportunities or let anyone know you want to “move up” with the company. The absolute kiss of death. Good luck out there.

Everyone who complains about the changes we are going threw go shop at toys r us or sears or any other company that refused to change or just made awful decisions. Going out of business is a reality. In 2017 there were more retail closings then during the great recession of 2007 and 2008. If you think we are losing because of poor customer your wrong. HD beats us and they have worse customer service. If we cant figure out how to compete with amazon will die. One final thought anyone at lowes who thinks there underpaid go compare your wages to other retailers. Most other retailers pay a little more than minimum wage.

Dear lord,

Any rational post made is shut down by the same degenerate toothless loaders. The same “NIBBY” response over and over. I bet the idiots who post hat are the same losers who show up late, call in constantly, and whine when they don’t even get interviewed for a better position, because they are lazy worthless losers. Probably fat too.

You’ve probably never set foot in a store yet you have the gall to sit here and lecture us while our stores and our careers are being destroyed by incompetent management.

You can stick your little Pollyanna post where the sun don’t shine. The rest of us have had a belly full of you corporate dumbasses and we are not about to shut up!

What exactly did I say that would lead you to believe I am brainwashed? Is it because I disagree with your opinion? I know sometimes it can be hard to believe that people see things differently and have very different perspectives.
