I want to have a scary movie marathon with my friends one weekend before Halloween. Wanted to get some opinions on what people think were the scariest movies they have ever seen.
Suggestions welcome...

Depends on the person I suppose...
I don't find gore porn scary.
It's the disturbing stuff that I find...well...disturbing.
I would have to put my vote in for "The Devil's Rejects" and "House of 1000 Corpses" by Rob Zombie.
Also, the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is nice and creepy and quite suggestive in that most people remember it as much bloodier than it really is.
Good stuff.
Happy Halloween, Pleasant Samhain, etc...

The newer version of "Hell House" is good as is the sci-fi thriller "Event Horizon". The original "Halloween" is good too.

Never heard of "Hell House"...was it something that came out awhile back and then was remade? Sounds interesting..will have to research that one! Thanks!

I have to agree with you on the Rob Zombie movies...pretty twisted stuff! Speaking of Rob Zombie, I know he directed the newest version of Halloween. I have not seen it but I wondered about his "take" on it?

If you want to be scared on Halloween night go to Blockbuster and rent any of the following in no particular order.

1.Event Horizon (previously mentioned, this movie works every time)

2. Session 9 (Atmospheric thriller in the vein of Hitchcock)

3. In the Mouth of Madness (John Carpenters third best movie)

4. Evil Dead (made in Morristown)

5. CandyMan (ruined my childhood)

6. Dawn of the Dead (1978)

7. Murder Party (arguably one of the greatest Halloween themed film beside the movie Halloween)

8. Serpent and the Rainbow

9. The Exorcist (It has to be on every list)

10. Re-animator (good gory fun)

his movies would be better if he didn't use the f-bomb every third word of dialogue. I for one don't mind language in a film, but not if it is just doing it to do it. I would have loved the new R.Z. Halloween but it seemed to lack the soul of the original.

I dunno, D.R is a pretty stand alone movie. I personally thought House of 1000 was pretty weak compared to Devils Reject.

But as far as story goes, they are both weak.

YEA, you can watch D.R. alone, but House of 1000 Corpses leads into Devils Rejects. But, Devils Rejects is WAY BETTER. WEAK, no they are not weak there just not old movies, even though they are set in the 70's ,they are good for a SCARE!!!

Yes, "Hell House" was an old B&W movie re-made a while back.
Set in an old mental institution where the guests have to spend the night to collect their money. I guess just being in an old mental hospital and the flashback type filming did it for me.

I like the first Alien, so much nail biting suspense and alot of gotcha too. Psycho was good too. For a good psychological thriller I liked Signs.
