I went to grade school with Emily, and her sister, Pauline. I remeber Emily as a quiet and sweet girl, who I lost track of when she went to Morton West, as I went to East. I believe her boyfriend went to East also. Her untimely death was one of those experiences where you remebered exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard the sad news. The impact was that strong. I think of her from time-to-time, and say a prayer for her when I do. I hope that her family realizes closure soon.

Like many others, I remember Emily well and attended her wake and funeral. In the past month, two "cold case" murders have been solved here in the Chicago area and it made me think of Emily. She was a beautiful girl and your family deserves to see the murderer brought to justice. The police and FBI just solved Maria Ridulph's murder and also another murder from the 1980's. It is time for them to step it up on this one. Perhaps finding a writer or reporter to "make some noise" would be the thing to do.

I knew Emily and Pauline from school. She was full of life and giggly as any 18 year old. When this horrific turn of events happened, we were all in shock. I came from a single family home and even at 18 my mother was in fear & didn't want me out of the house after dark. We heard many different stories, I went to the wake & funeral surrounded by those who cared about her and her family. And the Cicero Police and investigators. I have heard different 'assumptions' about who took her life, but nothing concrete. It is time to put those assumptions away and solve this thing. She and her family deserve peace & closure and the right person needs to be brought to justice. We loved you Emily and pray for an answer.

I have never forgotten Emily's murder. I was a HS freshman and knew her only because of being a friend of Emily's boyfriend's "other" girlfriend. Certain details are as clear to me as if they happened last week. Two days before she was killed I borrowed a comb from her in the HS bathroom I had followed her into,my mission was to get a closer look at my friend's rival. She was a petite, dark-haired very pretty girl. As much as I wanted to find something to not like about her, she was so nice to me, a stranger; and in my younger eyes, she was a perfectly dressed and coifed mature college girl. I thanked her and she gave me a friendly smile. That was the first and last time I ever saw her alive.
I lived by Morton HS and my mother was driving me to a new friend's house in the Boulevard Manor neighborhood for the first time. We had just passed under the viaduct on 25th St. approaching Ogden Ave. I remember the song that was playing on the radio "Come Together" by the Beatles. After the song ended, the news announced that a young girl's body had been found in an empty lot on 35th Street. As I recall, it was right next to a restaurant called "The Alpine" on 35th and Austin. My mother turned the car around and we went right back home. It was so disturbing she refused to take me to a house in a neighborhood where a murder had just taken place.
It wasn't until I got home and heard further details with the shocking news that it was my friend's rival that had been murdered; Emily.
I attended the wake with her and there were literally hundreds of people. In the following days, there were many very disturbing bits of supposed facts concerning the condition of her body; I prefer not to mention here out of respect.
I know they held her boyfriend for many, many hours for questioning before releasing him and no one was ever charged. I remember hearing a name a couple years later that some say with confidence was the one responsible.
I have been haunted by this murder for all these years, and want to get some sort of resolution. I can't imagine how painful this was and is for the surviving family members. I came across this site by googling her name...I hope the family finds some comfort in knowing that she has never been forgotten by many. I pray that the case will be solved so that they can have a small amount of peace.

Is this the same case where the victim was found in an alley? When I was in 6th grade I remembered hearing about the victim being found by a friends house.
Not many years later another girl was found at the currant Morton college site. I wonder if they were connected. They had similar crime scenes if I remember correctly.

Many years ago someone I knew quite well told me that when he worked at International Harvester, Tom Vlach, former Berwyn resident overheard a conversation in the men's room not a very long time after the fact. Someone with the nick name 'Shorty' said something implicating himself in this brutal murder.
I always assumed one of these two would pass this info on to the police.
Both resources, the person who initially told me and Tom are reliable sources whether they are involved in something else or not.

Almost 50 years and still no closure for family of Emily Keseg. In 1969 Cicero was much different than it is now. There were no gangs like today, just groups of kids that hung together. Such a senseless and brutal murder of a young girl was shocking, heartbreaking and terrifying for teens and young adults of that era. The truth is out there and why no one has come forward after all this time is highly suspicious of a cover up. Why was nothing ever published about the case after 3 or so days following her murder? Cold case? I have my doubts, someone knows who killed her or what transpired that fateful night. For the love of God and respect for her family, tell the true story and let Emily rest in peace and let her family finally have closure.

Did this drug dealer have a nick name? Possibly Okie? Does anyone know his real name? I heard he was dead.

I do remember Emily in fact went to school together, a wonderful person kind as could be.
Thete were always gangs back then, I have no information as to her assaiant. I wish I did, there should be someone be made responsible.
I always had my huntches no real evidence, I am praying that your family find peace.
Look to the group that hung around together from Rooosevelt grammer school 4 males in the grant works area. They went to Morton East together and terrorized many people.
I wish I had names to give.
