Wow a new hotel. I guess that's better than yet another credit union or McDonalds or Taco Bell. What about a good steakhouse such as Longhorn or maybe even an Olive Garden so people don't continually have to drive all the way to Johnson City to actually get a good meal? I've heard numerous Greeneville "experts" say the town can't support any great new restaurants but apparently it CAN support a new hotel? What gives?

A new restaurant is going to be built, it's just a matter of time. Once this new Super 8 motel opens up, investors will see a need for a new franchise right in that area. It might even be something really terrific like a Panda Express or a cinnabon.

I so hope that's sarcasm; If you're serious though, I suppose a Panda Express or a Cinnabon wouldn't impact the ol' status quo too awfully bad, so they'll probably allow those. I've often wondered if the prospect of allowing a great new steakhouse or a heavy-hitter top-tier chain restaurant move in scares the pants off of the good ol' boys that run the town because they may have a vested interest in protecting the stagnant, worn-out old feed troughs that have been there for years.

I still can't believe that a Cracker Barrel never popped up closer to Greeneville.

Me neither. If someone built a Cracker Barrel in Greeneville I bet It would stay packed.
