Thanks to the local government and their family and friends for taking the best spots to view the implosion.
That new City manager is a bitch that wanted to keep the citizens from viewing it from town and tried to get it made where nobody but them and their friends and families only. Thanks to her the police was ordered to put no parking signs on what areas that were left after the "In" crowd and their cliques took the best spots. I heard that they are bringing surrounding counties and cities LEO's to help enforce trespassing and parking violations.
They are claiming that the citizens would make it hard on the Emergency workers to keep an eye on like we are all babies or trouble makers. They basically pushed people across the river into Bellpoint and that will make for trouble in every way possible from traffic jam to people not respecting the property owners there.

It is a shame that our politicians and their families and friends took up all the premium spots for viewing and we are left to face police harassment and fines if we dare try to view it outside of bellpoint or the opposite riverbank which is very muddy. Try getting close and go to jail!

Yeah they have the Feed them cake mentality.
Can anybody name one elected official and their office that is not corrupt here? Any? Just one? They honestly do think that they are a different breed and better. That is what the citizens get for repeatedly electing the same ones into office till they serve long enough to retire on the taxpayers dime and by that time they have used their office to benefit themselves.

Town Critic, riddle me this; have you ever eaten off of Sferra Acanthus sateen jacquard-woven hand-thread-drawn hemstitch fine 100% Egyptian cotton linen with mitered corners imported from Italy in the color of garnet?

No? Well that is what I THOUGHT. The Elite of Bourbon On Main never let our elbows rest upon this elegant finery as we dine over such regalia, nightly.

We saw you when you came in. I remember an utterance from a colleague at that moment to the effect of, "She is surely astutely aware that Bourbon On Main does NOT serve pepper steak, right?" The collective assembled at our table was amused, verily.

Just a regular, middle class, middle aged lady, not rich, not poor? NOT Elite! Leave us!

DUH! Wait, DUHDUHDUH!
Saying the exact phrase used during Bloody Marys time would not had been appropriate so Feed them cake was in reference to that same attitude. I know, You still don't get it. Pffft.

Well, it would be hard to use the "exact phrase used during Bloody Mary's time" because Bloody Mary died over 200 years before the saying existed. The saying "let them eat cake" is attributed to Marie Antoinette of France, around 1789. Bloody Mary died in 1558. Also, minor detail, Bloody Mary was queen of England, and the saying is from Marie Antoinette from France.

Even so, why would it not have been "appropriate" to use the actual saying? It means the same now as it does then, and is an extremely well-known saying. Well, at least to most people.

Please explain to me more how I "don't get it", if you don't mind.

Why are you hell bent on highjacking this thread and changing the subject? WHY? Can you please explain why it is so important for you to get all wadded up because a phrase wasn't what you thought it should be.
The "Let them eat cake" was an {ExAMPLE} of the Upper Society being the same none caring jerks that did not care about the regular folks during the times of Marie Antoinettes in which she was claimed to have said Let them eat cake. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_them_eat_ca...

Now take a hike and let this thread get back on track of its original intent of our leaders not giving a damn about the citizens that they are suppose to look after and only caring about themselves and their clique. Thanks but no THANKS!

Just my $.02, but the discussion of "let them eat cake" is a lot more interesting than whining about "VIPs" at an implosion when any reasonably intelligent person could have had their choice of multiple vantage points.

Wow. What a bucket of dumb.“Wanted to keep the citizens from viewing it” and “took up all the premium spots” are two of the most laughable sentences I have read in a long time. Are you so inept that you can’t read a map? Here is a list of the other “prime viewing spots” that the new City Manager tried to keep people away from.

McClure Building
Behind the YMCA
Behind the Federal Building
Old Capitol
All of the Bridges
Clifty Drive
Buttimer Hill
East Main Street
Crown Point

A special kind of stupid.
