The current pair of 747s used as Air Force One are 30 years old. New ones are overdue.

If Hillary had been elected Air Force One would now be known as Broomstick One.

If they're based on 747s then why won't they be fully obsolete by the time the two have been fully modified? How long will they last once they're put into service before themselves being termed obsolete?

If you build a 1930's Ford from scratch, using original plans, it will be a "new" vehicle.
Same applies to planes. Use original plans, new materials & technology, and you have a completely different animal.
Do try to play "catch up."
