    The Beckley Police Department released the following information: "This week information was received by Beckley Police Department Detectives suggesting that Demorrea Curry had been observed in Columbus, OH. Through a collaborative effort of the Beckley Police Department and the United States Marshal's Fugitive Task Forces in Beckley, WV, and Columbus, OH, Mr. Curry was located and taken into custody in reference to the murder of Corey Henry that occurred in Beckley, WV on April 10, 2018."

    A woman is dead after her grandfather mistook her for an intruder and shot her at a residence in east Columbus. Just before 11pm, Wednesday, officers were called to the 1200 block of Berkeley Road on the report of a shooting.

    Jordan C.V. Williams didn't have her house keys late Wednesday when she returned to the Berkeley Road home where she lived with her grandfather on Columbus' South Side. Just before 11 p.m., the 19-year-old woman knocked on her grandfather's first-floor bedroom window in order to wake him so he could let her in the front door.

    Columbus police on Wednesday released the name of a man killed in a shooting outside an East Side apartment complex Tuesday evening. James Davis, 24, of the Northeast Side, was found with gunshot wounds outside the apartment building in the 1200 block of Brookway Road shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

    A man shot to death in an East Side apartment complex became the 67th homicide victim of the year in Columbus. Officers were called to the area of 1255 Brookway Road at approximately 6:03 p.m. Tuesday on a report that gunshots were heard and that someone had been shot, said Homicide Unit supervisor Sgt.

    The dinner hour was close at hand and children were playing outside at an East Side apartment complex when a man was fatally shot Tuesday evening. Columbus police and fire paramedics were called just after 6 p.m. to the Colonial Village Apartments in the 1200 block of Brookway Road, just north of East Livingston Avenue.

Tidiane, who lives in Canal Winchester and is from the West African country of Mauritania, knows Columbus residents from his home country who have sold their businesses, put their houses on the market and cashed in their 401 s before leaving for Canada or hiding out here for fear of deportation.

  • Suspect Arrested In Marion Bar Shooting

    On July 29, Marion Police Department officers responded to a shooting call at Gotham, a bar located at 137 W. Center St. in downtown Marion. The victim, JaShawn Ray, age 24 of Marion, had been shot multiple times in the bar and was transported to Marion General Hospital, after which he was life-flighted to a Columbus hospital for further treatment.

    Local law enforcement officials say they confiscated approximately $27,000 of suspected illicit drugs and arrested three suspects following a traffic stop in the 700 block of 12th Street in Portsmouth, Friday at approximately 5:34 p.m. The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, assisted by officers with the Portsmouth Police Department and the Portsmouth Police Department Street Crimes Unit, stopped a vehicle occupied by 53-year old Lois Edwards of Portsmouth; 26-year-old Wyshawn Demon O'Berry of Dayton; and, 19-year-old Shayla Lashaun Byrd of Columbus.

    A man charged in the death of a Columbus man who was beaten at a bus stop slammed the victim's head into a wall and then degraded him afterward, according to a witness who called 911. Richard Spirnak, 46, of Whitehall, is in police custody after the July 23 fight at a bus stop at East Main Street and South James Road on the East Side.
